"Where Is My Septic Tank?"

This is one of the most common questions we hear. Many homeowners—especially those who recently purchased their home—have no idea where their septic tank is buried. And that's completely normal.

Septic tanks are designed to be out of sight and out of mind. The problem is, when it's time for service, you need to know where it is. That's where we come in.

  • Previous owners never shared the location
  • Records were lost or never created
  • Landscaping has changed over the years
  • The tank was installed decades ago

Locating FAQs

How do you find buried tanks?

We use a combination of methods: following the sewer line from your house, using probing rods, and drawing on 60+ years of local knowledge about common tank placements in Shiawassee County homes.

How long does locating take?

Most tanks can be located in 15-30 minutes. Excavation adds another 15-30 minutes depending on depth. In rare cases with unusual installations, it may take longer.

Will you damage my lawn?

We minimize disruption as much as possible. We dig only what's necessary to access the tank lids. After service, we restore the area, though some settling may occur over time.

What if you can't find my tank?

In 60+ years, we've never failed to find a tank. Some take longer than others, but we'll find it. In extremely rare cases, we may recommend a camera inspection through your sewer line.
